The facade of an 7th century Islamic palace has been moved and reconstructed as the museum’s main entrance. Some of the findings from Qaser Al Heir palace are also located in the museum second floor. The Islamic wing contains many exhibits for objects dating back from different periods of Islamic History. Those are featuring the many scriptures from the Omayyad era to the Ottomans. This also includes an 18th century reconstructed Damascene room.

The Syrian Virtual Museum Project

Is an inventory of Syria’s museum collections, published on the web. It highlights the significant artifacts at the Syrian archaeological museums. The project’s objective is to fill the gap in both the “in country” and public records of these collections and to raise awareness among the Syrian public about their shared heritage.
