Palmyra Lifestyle The Lifestyle In Anceint Palmyra Community's lifestyle usually reflects an individual's attitudes, way of life, values, or worldview for a specific period. Likewise, a lifestyle is a way of creating a sense of self and creating cultural symbols that resonate with personal identity and self-expression. In this chapter, we will not include the Palmerians opinions regarding the issues of religion or politics, as these two were dealt with within a separate allocation rather than the life of Palmyrians within their homes and the influences that affected this way of life. The material culture of Palmyra suggests a trading community and population influenced by a cultural blend of local, regional, Greek, Roman, Graeco-Roman, and Parthian cultures Such thing is evident in the local clothing of the time as well as in interior design. Mosaic floors discovered in private homes and tomb frescos referenced themes closely related to Greek and Roman culture. This indicates a culture opened to the rest of the old world which in turn influenced lifestyle and personal beliefs and identity. The decorative details however, such as statues and murals, remained essentially subject to oriental rather local rules. Browse Collection

ABOUT THE SYRIAN VIRTUAL MUSEUM PROJECT

The project’s objective is to fill the obvious gap in both the “in country” and public records of these collections and to raise awareness among the Syrian public about their shared heritage.
