Funerary Base-relief Of A Woman

“The late Aha daughter of Malto son of Yerehbola” figure adorned with sumptuous jewels, the profusion of which suggests that it was a lady of high rank. The costumes were most certainly a function of the social rank of the deceased. Here, the luxurious costume is covered with an abaya which nevertheless leaves the ornaments in evidence. This lady wears, in addition to her necklaces, a chain with two medallions representing Palmyrenian gods depicted in bust. (*)
