Funerary base relief of a man with an olive branch in his hand.

The individual loculus relief sculptures present a rich range of iconography information about the people of Palmyra. These individualized reliefs are formatted as portrait reliefs and depict their subjects intimately, often with symbols of their status and social position. The portrait of a man dating c. 50-150 C.E.  provides a good example of this practice. He depicted holding an olive branch in his left hand.
